Queer Family
Last week Princess Kennedy, my mentor and trans mom, was in a serious accident requiring facial reconstruction surgery. PK helped set up Utah’s first organization for queer youth in the 1980s while still a teenager, was a major force behind the Utah Pride Festival in 90s, and today dedicates a lot of her time and resources to helping Salt Lake’s homeless population. Her band also opened for Cher, which isn’t an example of community activism, I just thought it was cool.
She’s through the worst of it and should make a full recovery, but she’s going to need a lot of help to cover medical expenses. If you can spare something, no matter how small, here’s her GoFundMe. Thankfully we’ve seen a great response so far – when you’ve touched as many lives as she has, I suppose it’s natural that people want to reach out and help.
